DOGGY DILEMMA? Dog behaviour problems
can be a VERY costly business both financially and emotionally. Taking appropriate action NOW could
save YOU £££££s and help put a stop to the
stress that’s affecting you and your dog! Click here for list of services CAN YOU IMAGINE a life
doggy bliss? … Wouldn’t that be
GREAT? … Well some people are already experiencing changes
that are surprising to them!
Here’s just a sample of what they have reported back to me
… “Dear Andrea Thanks for seeing Pichon last week. He has done extremely well. I’m really surprised! He is a
much more placid dog. I
don’t know what you did to him last week but he is like a totally
different dog! Every time someone
knocked the door he behaved like a bull at a gate and was ready to jump on
them but during the last week it has not happened. So whatever it was you did - it worked! He is a much better dog! Even my husband has commented on the
difference in Pichon. I
can’t get over it! Thanks” Tracey, Daniel,
Stephen and Luke “Dear Andrea You asked for feedback within a week of seeing you
last week so I am pleased to tell you that we have seen big improvements.
Sasha hasn't urinated in the house since I emailed you last. The chewing
of furniture, curtains etc has also stopped …. Thanks
for everything!” Heidi & Geraint “Hi Andrea Thank you so much for your help last night, I felt
like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. As soon as we got home Suki headed for
the garden and barked. I went out
and put her on lead without talking to her and brought her back in and when
she was quiet, she had a treat.
Would you believe she has not barked since? Just being very loving. Again Andrea, thank you.” Paula “ … just to let you know
that my Mum and Dad say that the improvement in Ellie’s behaviour even
at this early stage is absolutely amazing … friends don’t believe
she’s the same dog …” Jan A doggy tale It was back in 1987 when I acquired my first dog
Toby. He was an 8-week old rescue
dog. For me it was love at first
sight despite the fact that he was in a pretty poor state and full of
fleas. My ideas about owning a
dog, particularly a rescue dog, were fairly romantic, not to mention
unrealistic! After all this
little rescue dog would be so grateful to have a new home that he would
behave impeccably– wouldn’t he? I imagined all manner of
delightful things like spoiling my sweet little pup with lots of treats and
toys and snuggling up on the sofa with him. Then we’d have lots of fun and
frolics in the park with some equally sweet doggy friends …. I WAS IN FOR A RUDE
AWAKENING! My sweet little puppy … ·
chewed
off most of the back door frame ·
chewed
up the seat belts in my car ·
trashed
the kitchen regularly in my absence ·
jumped
up frantically on visitors ·
pulled
me around on the lead ·
became
aggressive towards other dogs ·
refused
to come back when I called him ·
and
barked and yelped incessantly whenever he travelled in the car LET ME CONFESS, there were times when I was at
the end of my tether. Frustration and desperation were my middle names for a
while. Seeing how depressed I had
become, a friend tried to help by suggesting I let my dog go … “You’ve done your
best” she said
“Perhaps it’s time to just let someone else handle it”… This was not an option for me. I loved this dog too much and despite
the problems, I knew I couldn’t part with him. I just so desperately needed to put an
end to the behaviour and didn’t know where to turn. I read a book which gave me a few
pointers and I had lots of advice from well-meaning friends but the real
problems just didn’t go away.
Another friend told me about a “trainer”. “I’ll try
anything!” I
said. This “trainer” used some fairly harsh even
brutal techniques and when my dog didn’t respond in the way he wanted,
he referred to my dog as “a little sod”. Alarm bells were ringing even
then. I had already suspected
that blaming the dog was not the answer.
Still, against my better judgement I decided to take his advice and
implemented some of his methods (he was the expert after all –
wasn’t he?). The behaviour
deteriorated, I got more stressed, felt guilty and things went from bad to
worse. INSIGHT NO 1 Punishment is a negative choice Research shows that animals rarely connect the punishment
to the “crime” but when a behaviour is highly instinctive, they
learn to avoid you or “misbehave” in your absence! Punishment can cause fear,
anxiety and confusion and often makes matters much worse! Why
do people still choose to punish?
Well that’s another story! A happier doggy tale My
second dog, Spud was also a rescue dog.
Again it was love at first sight.
This time I knew what I was letting myself in for and this time I was
better prepared. I educated
myself on dog behaviour and began to see things from the dog’s point of
view. I’m a fairly fast
learner! Did I do things
perfectly? Probably not, but I
must have done something right.
The results speak for themselves … This dear little dog … ·
has
never chewed anything inappropriate ·
has
never been destructive in my absence ·
only
jumps up at people who invite it ·
is
generally sociable with other dogs ·
comes
when he’s called (95% of the time anyway!) ·
lies
down quietly in the car every time we travel ·
and
can walk calmly on a lead … HOW DID I ACHIEVE
THIS? … I CHANGED WHAT I DID! Yes, that’s
right! I handled things in a
totally different way! … AND GUESS WHAT? I ended up with a totally
different result! INSIGHT NO 2 There’s a better way
to get results! Animals, like humans, do
what works! When you show them
clearly and with kindness the behaviour you like and, most importantly make
it work for them, they will usually oblige. The further you read into this the
more you will see how it really is possible to have a life without those
doggy disasters …. Now wouldn’t that be
something worth having? … YOU PROBABLY KNOW
it’s possible, … but do you know HOW? Remember when you were
in school? Which teachers got the
best results from you without using fear-based or punitive methods? How did they do that? STOP and think about
it! Are you beginning to see

YOU’LL LEARN WHEN YOU DECIDE TO COME ALONG no matter which option you
choose … How to RECOGNISE where and when you
may be unwittingly encouraging unwanted behaviour in your dog
and to UNDERSTAND that your dog
is always learning new ways to behave whether you
realise it or not. How to get to the ROOT CAUSE and MOTIVATION behind the
behaviour and not just deal with the symptoms. How A LITTLE BOX like this You’ll
learn some techniques to help you TEACH YOUR DOG to: ·
Be more attentive to you ·
Respond more willingly to your requests ·
Walk more calmly on lead ·
Come to you when called ·
Leave things alone when you ask ·
Remain more relaxed in your absence to mention just a few … YOU’LL ALSO LEARN … How much your dog’s EMOTIONS affect his
behaviour and how natural remedies discovered by a … amazing stuff! www.bachremedies4animals.co.uk How STRESS affects your
dog’s behaviour and health and how you can help to reduce stress in your
dog’s life, thereby helping to reduce it in your own. How exactly your DOG SENSES YOUR EMOTIONS
AND MOODS and how to help him feel calm when
he’s with you. Remember, a relaxed, happy
dog is far less likely to have behavioural issues and is
more receptive to learning. How the HIDDEN AND SUBTLE EXCHANGES that take
place between you and your dog, are often more important than the things you
are consciously aware of. How PUNISHMENT can seriously
damage your relationship with your dog and often increase the problem
behaviour. Punishing or

at any time! How to DECIPHER some of the
most important things your dog’s body language can tell you and how communicating
with your dog using special calming signals can be more
effective than words … What DOMINANCE
REDUCTION PROGRAMS are, why they became so popular and why I made a
